Reaching user communities: lessons and questions from the Internet2 experience

The Internet2 project has employed various strategies for reaching the users of the advanced networking environment built by the Internet2 community. This presentation will describe these strategies, the philosophy behind the approach, the structure of the effort and successes and failures of each. Examples of Internet2 efforts to reach and engage user communities include: supporting "Internet2 Days" on member campuses focused on bringing examples and demonstrations of uses of the network to researchers and faculty; and employing staff in support of specific user community engagement and outreach programs in the Arts & Humanities, Science & Engineering and Health Sciences discipline areas.
