Alternative 'last mile' connections with the use of cheap wireless systems operating in free frequency bands

Wireless networking is believed to be technology allowing easy access to remote sites without the need to develop an expensive transmission infrastructure. Widely available cheap 802.11b/g devices operate in the 2,4 GHz ISM radio band that does not require concession. The speed of 802.11 transmission ranges from several up to tens Mbits per second, and the price suggests it as the way to connect low-budget institutions and to provide them the access to rich Internet resources and e-Learning applications.
The presentation will show some wireless connectivity scenarios and corresponding results as well as problems connected with wireless transmission.
