Inter-Domain GMPLS Traffic Engineering

MPLS Traffic Engineering and its applications in a single domain (IGP area) are quite prevalent today. Actually several Research Networks use MPLS to transport point-to-point Layer 2 VPNs and “stitch” manually the circuits between each domain. This paper discusses GMPLS Traffic Engineering solutions across different domains, where domains could be IGP Areas/Levels or Autonomous Systems (ASes), or a GMPLS overlay networks. Applications could be extending traditional Traffic Engineering capabilities, deploying end-to-end LSPs for L2 circuits and also inter-domain Bandwidth on Demand Service (or “lambda” Grids).
