Position: Distinguished Engineer
Brian Carpenter is among the industry's most respected Internet computer scientists and a leading expert on the Internet Protocol IPv6 and differentiated services networks prioritizing real-time traffic.
He has a master's from Cambridge and a Ph.D. in computer science from Manchester. Brian joined IBM in 1997 after 20 years at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, where he helped pioneer advanced Internet applications during the development of the World Wide Web. He was appointed Chair of the Internet Engineering Task Force in March 2005.
