Poznań is the main city of the western region of Poland called Wielkopolska or "The Great Poland", where the history of the Polish state began over 1000 years ago.
The TERENA Networking Conference 2005 will be held in the new Congress Centre of the Poznań University of Technology with offers spacious state-of-the art facilities for the conference. It is also close to the Old Town and the Old Market, the cultural and leisure centre of the city.
Poznań is a city of 575,000, with over 20 universities and institutes of higher education and about 120,000 students, and is the centre of Polish international trade.
